Rabbi Avraham Wein
RABBI AVRAHAM WEIN is the Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Keter Torah. Prior to his arrival in Teaneck, he served as Rabbinic Assistant at Congregation Beth Sholom in Lawrence, NY. He is also a member of the Judaic Studies faculty at Torah Academy of Bergen County. A native of Queens, NY, Rabbi Wein studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion under the tutelage of Rabbi Mosheh Lichtenstein and later served as a madrikh for Har Etzion alumni at Yeshiva University.
Rabbi Wein earned a B.A. in Psychology and Jewish Studies from Yeshiva University as part of the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program. He received semikha as a member of the Bella and Harry Wexner Semikha Honors Program and an M.A. in Medieval Jewish History at the Bernard Revel Graduate School. Rabbi Wein is also a graduate of the RIETS/Ferkauf Joint Program in Mental Health Counseling. During his semikha studies, Rabbi Wein was a member of AIPAC’s Lefell Israel Fellowship for Rabbinical Students.
Rabbi Wein is a longtime student of Rabbi Michael Rosensweig and acted for many years as his shiur assistant, in addition to helping him publish several articles. Rabbi Wein has held various editorial positions including at Tradition: A Journal of Orthodox Jewish Thought, where he also served as Guest Editor for “Divrei Shalom: Special Tradition Tribute Volume to Rabbi Shalom Carmy.” In addition to his own writing, he assists his teachers Rabbi Rosensweig and Rabbi Carmy in preparing their teachings for publication.
Rabbi Wein and his wife Shira are proud parents of Esti and Dovi. Shira, a graduate of Stern College and York College, is a certified Physician Assistant, as well as being a trained kallah teacher.
