Keter Torah Employment Search Program
"If I am not for myself, then who will be for me?
And if I am only for myself, then what am I?
And if not now, when?"
-- Rabbi Hillel
Mission
A community that supports itself will thrive. Keter Torah is dedicated to facilitating an environment
that encourages each and every one of us to have our fellow members constantly in mind. When someone
mentions his or her trade, we should think of possible customers. When someone is looking to hire any
one of us, and we know of a potential candidate, we should let the prospective employer know. When
someone is looking for help, we should offer it. If one of us is looking for a product and/or a service
that someone in the community can provide, we should each consider using that person.
Adversity gives us the opportunity to demonstrate to ourselves and to our children who we can be. Let us
rise to the challenge before us, and help our entire community through this troubling time by working together.
How to Help
Keter Torah is undertaking a number of initiatives with the above mission in mind. In the coming weeks, we aim to build
a database, with information addressing four areas in which we believe we can all help each other. These four areas
are:
- Job Postings
The Job Postings database presents a chance for Keter Torah members to share employment opportunities with the
Keter Torah community. It is our hope that these postings will help members of our community identify possible
employers that they might not otherwise be aware. If you know of any opportunites in the work-force, please do
not hesitate to navigate your browser to the
Job Postings page, and enter any job opportunities you may be aware of.
If you are a Keter Torah member currently seeking employment, or simply looking to improve your current situation, please
take some time to fill out the Seeking Emplyment form.
Your name will be known only to the facilitators of the employment program. Someone will contact you when a job or networking
opportunity in your area of expertise presents itself.
-
Networking
The Networking database is an attempt to build a job-networking community within Keter Torah. By entering information
into this database, you are offering to act a networking resource to members of the Keter Torah community. If you
enter your information onto the site, you will be contacted by a Keter Torah coordinator before your information is
forwarded to any members. No information will be shared without your prior consent. If you are interested in participating,
please fill out the form on the Networking page.
-
Business Directory
In Medieval villages, people couldn’t travel, so every need was supplied for by local merchants.
While we may not have a cooper or tanner or even blacksmith at Keter Torah, we do have many merchants and
professionals who have excellent reputations. These members provide a vast array of services that may well
satisfy many of our membership's needs. By helping our business people advertise their services,
Keter Torah hopes that you will consider supporting them by utilizing their services.
Participants in this program are expected to donate a portion of the proceeds that they earn as a result of this program.
This money will be donated to the Keter Torah Discretionary Fund which, in turn, will help those people in our community
who are struggling. We believe this initiative can help the community in many ways and we encourage you to join as a
participant and a consumer.
In order to promote this program, Keter Torah will be hosting a wine and cheese function during the second week of August.
Until then, you can help build our directory by pointing your browser to
the Business Directory
page, and filling out the form. Your listing will then be made available to Keter Torah members and affiliate members.
-
Services
The Services database is a first step in trying to help members of the Keter Torah community affected by the current
economic crisis. If you feel that you can provide a service, and would be willing to do so on a pro-bono basis,
please fill out the form on the Services page.
