RABBI SHALOM BAUM has been the Rav at Keter Torah since September 2003. Before coming to Teaneck he served at Congregation Ahavath Achim in Fairfield Connecticut for nine years and as Assistant Rabbi at the Hebrew Institute of White Plains for two years. Prior to this Rabbi Baum was Rabbinic Intern to Rabbi Allen Schwartz at Congregation Ohab Zedek in New York City. He learned at the Advanced Kollel at Yeshivat Shaalvim in Israel and served as the North American Representative for Yeshivat Sha'alvim, interviewing students for the Chutz La'aretz program.
RABBI BAUM STUDIED for five years with Rabbi Yehudah Parnes at Yeshiva University and has served as scholar in residence and guest lecturer at numerous synagogues throughout the country. He received his rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Benjamin Cardozo Law School. He was one of 17 rabbis in the U.S. chosen for the prestigious LEAD fellowship and is a Fellow at the Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik Institute in Boston where he has developed a close relationship with Rabbi Jacob Schacter. He founded the Fairfield Jewish Experience, an independent outreach organization that has inspired hundreds of unaffiliated Jews.
RABBI BAUM IS active in many community organizations and he has led numerous missions to Israel. The Israel Ministry of Tourism and Tehilla have recognized Rabbi Baum for his commitment to promoting visits and Aliyah to Israel. He is a national officer of the Rabbinical Council of America ("RCA") and has represented the RCA at important political events. He was recognized by the American Academy of Poets for original writing.
AS THE RAV at Keter Torah, Rabbi Baum has expanded learning opportunities for adults and children. He is engaged in efforts to intensify the spirit of tefillah as well as building a stronger Keter Torah family. He is a member of the RCBC and participates at various UJA Federation initiatives. Rabbi & Debbie Baum are the parents of Yonatan, Dovid , Esti & Meira.
