TORAH IN THE AM

  • Meeting Tuesday & Thursday, from 8:50am to noon, Torah in the AM provides an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in shiurim and Chavruta study.

Keter Torah News

  • There will be a Carlebach style minyan next Friday, February 1, at 5:00pm in the Beit Midrash.
  • On Friday, February 8, at 8:30pm, there will be an oneg/lecture featuring Dr. Isaiah M. Gafni, Professor of Jewish History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His topic will be “Was Adam Jewish? Were the Avot Rabbis? Did Hazal ‘Rabbinize’ the Past? Rabbinic Attitudes Toward What Really Happened.”

  • On Sunday, February 10, from 10:00am to 3:30pm, Keter Torah will host the Belz School of Jewish Music for a day dedicated to upgrading the quality of davening of young adults, laymen, and professionals. Presenters will include Cantors Bernard Beer, Sherwood Goffin, Joseph Malovany, Yaakov Motzen & Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb; Rabbi Baum will give a Dvar Torah. ATARA News

Youth News           

  • Next Shabbat, February 2, between Mincha and Ma’ariv, Rabbi Baum will speak at the monthly Shabbat Mevarchim Seuda for children in grades 4-8.
  • There will be a trip to Campgaw Mountain for children in grades 3-6, next Motzei Shabbat, February 2. Drop off is at 7:00pm and pickup is at 10:30pm, both at Bnai Yeshurun. The cost includes busing, tubing, and a light snack. To make a reservation, e-mail rivki19@yahoo.com. Payment must be made to the Shul office at the time of registration.
  • Shabbat, February 9, is Youth Shabbat. Join us as our children daven, lain and share Divrei Torah. To co-sponsor the Youth Shabbat kiddush, please contact the shul office.

Community News

  • The UJA Federation of Northern NJ annual community phonathon will be held this Sunday from 9:00am to 9:00pm at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey. To volunteer, contact Jonah Halper at 201-488-6800, ext. 249, or jonahh@ujannj.org.
  • This Sunday, after the 8:00am Shacharit at Rinat Yisrael, Rabbi Michael Rosensweig, a Rosh Yeshiva at YU, will speak on the topic "Shemitta-The Heter Mechira."
  • This Monday at 8:15pm at Beth Aaron, Rav Baruch Simon, a Rosh Yeshiva at YU, will continue his weekly shiur on contemporary halachic issues.
  • Ruchie Axelrod will give a presentation about “Bitachon – Having Trust in Hashem,” this Wednesday, January 30, at 8:30pm at Beth Abraham.
  • On Wednesday, February 6 at 8.30pm, at Beth Aaron, Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, Executive VP of the OU, will speak at the RCBC community-wide gathering for Jerusalem on “Yerushalayim: Its Impact on Our Inner Life and Outer Actions.”
  • Several families have expressed interest in a new social skills group for boys 12-16 years old who have Aspergers, PDD, LD or other special needs that affect their social skills development. Ideally, the group would start in March, so please respond as soon as possible to 201-833-1349 or herrmann@ou.org.
