About our Executive Director, Howard Gruenspecht
Before joining Keter Torah as Executive Director, Howard served for 25 years as a manager in the kosher meat and food service industry, most recently at Globex Kosher Foods. Howard's work followed in the footsteps of his uncles, also butchers and proprietors, who served the community of Washington Heights. Howard attended MTA and later graduated from City College, earning his BA in political science.
In recent years, Howard joined with Yeshiva University's Belz School of Jewish Music, where, in conjunction with the Cantorial Council of America, he has parlayed his love of Jewish cantorial music into exciting community events and concerts. For the past five years, Howard has coordinated concerts commemorating the yarzheit of Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt. He has also served as chairman for conventions, as well as a cantorial-themed conference in Israel. In 2005, Howard received the Distinguished Communal Leadership Award for Support of Liturgical Music.
As Executive Director, Howard looks forward to serving the shul and to forging new relationships with members of Keter Torah and the greater Jewish community.
Howard lives in Teaneck with his wife, Sara, and his children, Atara, Ayelet, and Zvi.
