{     Rabbi Duvie Weiss will deliver the shiur between Mincha & Ma’ariv this Shabbat.

       Thursday, 5:45pm-6:45pm – Pizza and Parasha for children entering grades 2-5.

       Thursday, 9:00pm – Rav Yissocher Frand’s Weekly Satellite shiur. Sponsors welcome.

{     Rabbi Reisman will deliver a shiur at Keter Torah on Wednesday, September 19, at 8:00pm.

 

Scholar in Residence

{     On Shabbat, Parashat Nitzavim / Vayelech, September 8, Keter Torah looks forward to welcoming Rabbi Kenneth Brander, as scholar in residence. Rabbi Brander, Dean of Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future will give the drasha at the Hashkama minyan Shabbat morning; a shiur before Mincha, at 5:30pm, and another between Mincha and Ma’ariv. He will also deliver the pre Slichot shiur at 11:30pm. Topics to be announced.

 

Keter Torah News

{     Please note: all boxes in the main Shul will be cleaned this week. Please remove all personal belongings and books from your box.

{     Keter Torah is hosting a wedding this Sunday. Parking spaces will be available for Mincha / Ma’ariv. However, if possible, please walk to Shul. Your understanding is appreciated.

{     Teen Minyan resumes next Shabbat, at 9:15am, in the Beit Midrash.

{     The Second Annual “Elul Friday Night Oneg Shabbat” will take place on September 7 at 9:15pm and will feature Ari Greene and the BaRock singers. This event is sponsored by Renee & Daniel Seidman in honor of Avi’s Bar Mitzvah.

{     Shaimos drop off on Sunday, September 9, at Keter Torah.

{     Although Simchat Torah is somewhat in the distance, we are beginning plans to host Yachad at Keter Torah again this year. We are looking for a few volunteers to help Yachad coordinate the housing. This will entail making some calls to arrange housing and limited meals for the Yachad participants. To volunteer, please e-mail Sabrina@ketertorah.org.

{     Please send Rabbi Baum, at rabbibaum@ketertorah.org, the e mail addresses of students attending Yeshivot in Israel or out of state colleges in the U.S. this coming year.

 

Yamim Noraim

{     The deadline for the High Holidays seating requests has passed. If you plan on joining us for the holidays we need your application in order to allocate seats. Reservations received now will be assigned to the Beit Midrash or Beit Knesset based on availability. Applications are available in the office and on the web at www.ketertorah.org.

{     Keter Torah is hosting High Holiday explanatory services again this year. Please tell your friends, family, and colleagues about this wonderful opportunity. For more information, please call the Shul office.

{     On both days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur, children’s day care for nursery through fifth grade will begin at 8:00am. A special learning and davening will take place for children in grades 3-5, beginning at Torah reading through the Rabbi’s Drasha of the Beit Knesset minyan. This will be led by our wonderful Shul volunteers. We are also excited to announce that Noah Baron, of Pizza & Parasha fame, will lead a special program for grades 3-6 for approximately the last hour and fifteen minutes of the Rosh Hashanah davening. Rabbi Baum will visit the other groups throughout Yom Tov. Supervision is not available for grades 6 and above at any time of the day. These children must be in Shul or supervised by their parents.

 

ATARA News

{     The Keter Torah family picnic will be held this Sunday, from 3:30pm at the Sheridan Avenue Park, New Milford. Rain Location – Moose Lodge, 201 West Englewood Avenue, Teaneck.

{     ATARA’s pre - yom tov hat sale will be held on Wednesday, September 5, from 7:30pm – 9:30pm, at Keter Torah. For more information, contact Gila Elbaum at 201-387-9369.

 

Torah Tots

{     Parents of small children are invited to our Mommy and Me program on Shabbat mornings from 10:30am-11:15am in the Shul apartment.

 

Community News

{     Melave Malka benefiting Bonei Olam, ,an organization that helps couples with fertility issues, featuring musical guests and silent auction, will be held this Motzei Shabbat, from 10:00pm – 1:00am at the home of Tammi & Bennett Schachter, 43 Dover Court, Bergenfield.

{     This Monday, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, a free support group for Orthodox divorced moms will take place at The Living Room, Jewish Family Services, 1485 Teaneck Road. The group is led by Debbie Fox, a senior social worker. All communications are strictly confidential. For more information, please call Laurie at 201-837-9090.

{     Chessed Opportunity – Hachnasat Kalla. Anyone wishing to donate new, unopened household items, gifts, or Judaica should contact Atara Gruenspecht at 201-214-7577. All items will be donated to "Ten Yad", an organization in Brooklyn that provides assistance to young brides who cannot afford the necessities of starting a new home.
