{     There will be a “Free Them Now” rally, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the three IDF soldiers who were kidnapped one year ago, this Monday, July 16, at 12:00 noon at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. UJA/NNJ buses to the rally will leave from their office, 111 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, at 10:00am promptly. Note from Rabbi Baum

I recently received a letter from the OU, informing me that the generous contributions from Keter Torah, combined with other funds, will enable 70-80 families from Sderot to go on a “retreat” during the first week in August. Let us hope that this experience will provide these families with the strength and clarity necessary to thrive in Sderot.

 

ATARA News

{     Save the Date for ATARA’s class for women, given by Debbie Baum, on Shabbat Nachamu, July 28, at 5:30pm.

 

{     The YU Keter Torah Summer Kollel is back! Elementary, junior high and high school boys are invited to come to Keter Torah through August 3 to learn with members of the Yeshiva University Keter Torah Summer Kollel. One-on-one learning opportunities with YU Kollel members are available Monday through Thursday from 4:00pm-5:00 pm, 5:00pm-6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm-9:00pm.  On Thursdays, there will be Pizza and Parasha from 5:15pm-6:15pm. Torah Tots

{     Parents of small children are invited to join our Mommy and Me program on Shabbat mornings from 10:30am-11:15am in the Shul apartment. We are also looking for volunteers to help run this program.

{     The Yeshiva Gedolah of Teaneck Annual Dinner will take place this Sunday at 6:00pm at Bnai Yeshurun. For information, go to http://tinyurl.com/2ctjko.

{     There will be a showing of the movie “With All of Your Soul – the Story of Roi Klein”, with guest speaker Yechiel Leiter, this Sunday at 8:40pm at Beth Aaron. Major Klein was killed in a battle in the second Lebanon war, sacrificing himself to save his soldiers by leaping onto a hand grenade, and crying out “Shma Israel”.

{     This Tuesday, Rebbetzin Tehila Jaeger will give a women’s shiur on “The Torah Perspective of Beauty: Restoring the Beauty of Yerushalayim, Ir Hakodesh” at 8:00pm in the old main Shul of Bnai Yeshurun.

Mrs. Laura Hoenig Silbermann will give a lecture on "The Loss of a Great Love- the Destruction of the Beit Hamikdash", next Shabbat, July 21, at 5:00pm, at the home of Lois and Avi Blumenfeld, 1358 Sussex Road, Bergenfield.

Shacharit & Kinot Explained by Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter

 

Keter Torah will again host Rabbi Jacob J. Schacter, University Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought at Yeshiva University and Senior Scholar at YU’s Center for the Jewish Future, who will explain the Kinot in accordance with the teachings of Rabbi Soloveitchik, zt”l. This program will be broadcast live on YUTORAH.org

FilmMichael Levin (z”l) A Hero in Heaven.

Born and raised in the U.S., Michael Levin made Aliyah at 16. He was killed in combat last year in the Second Lebanon War and was buried on Tisha Be’Av.
